The good news: it should wind down by mid-morning, and most neighborhoods are expected to see sunshine break out by late morning as slightly drier air nudges in and highs climb into the low-to-mid 80s.
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. Friday, then mostly sunny skies and a high near 84°F, with west winds around 8 mph and only light rainfall expected where storms pass, according to the National Weather Service. The agency expects most new rainfall amounts this morning to stay under a tenth of an inch, though an isolated thunderstorm could briefly dump heavier rain.

Early commuters should be ready for pockets of brief heavy rain and some lightning. Visibility can drop quickly in a downpour, and roads may be slick in spots.
