Discourse Coffee quietly rolled out a pint-size mobile cafe over the weekend, taking its "Drink Different" menu out of the cafes and onto the streets in a hand-painted, forest-green kei truck. The restored 1997 Subaru Sambar made its public debut at Summerfest and will now ferry baristas to public pop-ups, private events and corporate bookings across Milwaukee.
Summerfest Debut For Tiny Truck
The truck’s first official outing was at Summerfest, where it parked near the Generac Power Stage and poured classic espresso drinks alongside a pair of festival-specific signature lattes. Inside, the compact rig hides a full espresso bar and cold-bar setup that the team says can serve "most any past or present drink from the Discourse catalogue," while the exterior was hand painted by Michael Cerda of Cerda Design Co. The Summerfest appearance came together with support from sponsors Minor Figures, Hollander Chocolate Company and Bittercube, as reported by Urban Milwaukee.
How To Book And Where They Brew
Event organizers can reach out through the truck’s booking page, and Discourse lists the mobile cafe as an option for weddings, parties and corporate gatherings. The truck is meant to work alongside the company’s existing brick-and-mortar spots, with a downtown cafe and a Radio Milwaukee outpost keeping regular hours while the mobile crew heads to events. According to Discourse Coffee, the downtown cafe is located at 1016 N Broadway and the Radio Milwaukee location is at 158 S Barclay.
Local Roots, Wider Reach
The mobile move continues an expansion streak for the brand. Discourse opened its Radio Milwaukee cafe in 2023 and has used that space to test out full-service and tasting-style experiences, per Radio Milwaukee. Company co-owner Ryan Castelaz told Urban Milwaukee the mobile truck was "designed as a way for us to more holistically engage our brand in off site events." For Milwaukee festivalgoers and private-event hosts, the tiny truck is a new way to get Discourse’s craft drinks without making a separate cafe run.
