Marietta is getting a serious hit of New Orleans flavor, tucked into a modest strip along Powder Springs Road. Honey's Po'boys and Gumbo, a Louisiana-style counter spot, is moving into a compact storefront at 2667 Powder Springs Rd SW Ste 102, where siblings Angela Randolph and Lionel Thomas are building out a mostly takeout shop with about 10 to 12 seats and a whole lot of Gulf Coast attitude.

The project is a tribute to their late mother, nicknamed "Honey," and the menu will marry po'boys and gumbo with New Orleans-style snowballs for dessert. Think: classic Crescent City comfort food, no plane ticket required.

Owner Angela Randolph told Business Debut that Honey's is currently under construction and designed as a takeout-first operation with a small dine-in counter. Randolph said she and her brother have logged more than 20 years in catering and are personally handling much of the buildout, with help from family, including their uncle Isaiah Thomas. She added that the siblings plan to keep their catering and concessions contracts at the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia International Convention Center and Gateway Center Arena while they run the new restaurant.

Where It's Going And Why It Matters

The new counter will land along Powder Springs Road in a run of compact retail centers that some commercial listings refer to as Powder Springs Junction. A recent listing on LoopNet shows a corridor dotted with small retail suites and restaurant spaces, a natural fit for a po'boy spot built around grab-and-go orders.

It also arrives as local records show a steady flow of new business licenses across Cobb County this spring, a sign that the area has room for more neighborhood-friendly food options, according to Cobb Courier.

Menu, Hours And Opening Plans

Randolph told Business Debut that the menu will focus on Louisiana po'boys, gumbo and New Orleans-style snowballs. The family even picked up a traditional ice shaver in New Orleans to get the texture right.

The plan is to open seven days a week with proposed hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. The team is aiming for an August opening, although Randolph noted that the exact date will hinge on permits and inspections lining up on schedule.

To kick things off, the siblings hope to bring in a jazz band for the grand opening. Seating will stay tight, around 10 to 12 guests, while takeout is expected to carry most of the business.

If everything comes together, Honey's Po'boys and Gumbo will give Marietta one more locally grown spot to grab a bite and will finally put a brick-and-mortar address to the flavors the family has been serving at events for years. Stay tuned for updates if a firm opening date or any soft-opening plans are announced.
