Thursday morning turned tense in Charlotte's University City neighborhood after a person was seriously injured in a shooting, according to emergency responders. Crews rushed to the scene, treated the victim, and took them to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers responded as well and have opened an investigation into what led up to the gunfire.
WCNC reports that MEDIC crews found the victim near Vinca Circle, close to Old Concord Road, before transporting them to the hospital. The outlet also noted a separate overnight shooting on Barrington Drive that sent at least one other person to the hospital. As of the station’s latest update, CMPD had not released any information about possible suspects or arrests in either case.
