The clash happened inside the business at about 3:15 p.m., and officers later brought a co-worker to the police station for questioning. Authorities have not released the identities of either person. It was not immediately clear how the worker died or what led up to the confrontation.
Newton police said the incident unfolded at Old Hickory Tannery and confirmed they had interviewed a co-worker at the department, according to WBTV. The station reported that officers were called to the scene around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday and that investigators had not shared additional information about the cause of death or a possible motive.
