Renton’s NE Sunset Boulevard saw a tense Thursday night after an armed robbery in the 3200 block sent officers swarming the area in search of a young suspect described as a male in his late teens to early 20s.
Police warned nearby residents to expect a heavy law enforcement presence as officers canvassed the neighborhood and detectives worked to pin down the suspect’s identity.
Officers Working Leads, Public Told To Stay Alert
In a Facebook update, the Renton Police Department, WA said officers were responding to reports of an armed robbery and were actively processing the scene while detectives tried to identify the suspect.
The department’s post described the suspect as a male in his late teens to early 20s and asked anyone in the area to call 911 if they see anything suspicious. Police did not release additional details about the suspect or possible vehicle information as the investigation continued.
Sunset Boulevard Has Seen Recent Violence
The stretch of Sunset Boulevard has not been a stranger to serious crime. The Renton Reporter previously covered an armed robbery on the 4700 block, adding to a pattern of tense nights for the corridor.
Earlier this year, shootings and increased patrols in Renton drew additional attention from investigators and neighbors alike, underscoring how closely local authorities have been watching for violent incidents.

According to the department’s Facebook post, Renton police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery and has video or witnessed anything unusual to preserve what they have and call 911 so detectives can follow up.
Officers did not immediately release information on any injuries or arrests while they remained on scene sorting through evidence and witness accounts.
