A 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed early Wednesday in unincorporated East Rancho Dominguez, turning a quiet overnight stretch into a homicide scene, authorities said. Deputies were called to the 15200 block of South Butler Avenue at about 2 a.m., and the victim was later pronounced dead at a hospital. A person of interest was detained at the scene, and investigators said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department found the wounded man and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to MyNewsLA. Detectives remained in the neighborhood processing evidence and canvassing for witnesses as the investigation got underway.

East Rancho Dominguez, which sits between Compton and Paramount, is served by county agencies rather than a municipal police force, according to LA County Parks.
