Acez Lounge wants to bring brunch plates, stiff cocktails and live music to Milwaukee’s North Side, pitching itself as a dressed-up hangout for the 30-and-over crowd inside the Silver Mill Shopping Center on Teutonia Avenue. The space is already gutted and rebuilt with new furniture and black booths, but the doors are staying shut to the public while the city decides whether the lounge can pour drinks and host entertainment.
Owner, Renovations And The Plan
“We’re looking to create something different for the nightlife-slash-restaurant life on the North Side of Milwaukee,” owner and promoter Timothy Milton told Urban Milwaukee. The outlet reports that Milton took over the storefront earlier this year and has already gone all-in on the buildout, lining the lounge with all-black booths and installing new furniture and finishes.
Milton describes the finished interior as four distinct rooms, each with its own vibe: one for casual hangs, another aimed at celebrity performances, a space reserved for networking nights and a fourth that can be rented out for private events. From the sound of it, Acez is trying to be a one-stop social hub, depending on how the paperwork shakes out at City Hall.
Licenses And What They Allow
Acez is seeking both a liquor license and a public entertainment premises permit, approvals that have to move through the City Clerk’s License Division before the lounge can fully open its doors. According to the City of Milwaukee, those license pages spell out which permits are required, how applicants move through the process and how residents can review or object to pending applications. That system effectively decides which bars and performance venues get the green light on the North Side.
Menu, Age Policy And Social Buzz
According to Urban Milwaukee, the menu is set to lean fried and hearty, with catfish, chicken wings, fried lobster tails, burgers and honey-glazed lamb chops on deck. Behind the bar, Milton is planning high-end spirits and specialty cocktails, including a strawberry shortcake-flavored lemon drop.
The business application says Acez would open at 8 a.m. for brunch and operate in two shifts throughout the day, with an age restriction of 30 and older. Urban Milwaukee also notes that social media posts pushed a May 18 soft opening, weekly ladies nights and a Juneteenth afterparty. Milton, however, maintains that the lounge has stayed closed to the general public while those licenses remain unresolved.
Timing And Next Steps
New bar and entertainment applications generally move from the License Division to the Common Council’s Licenses Committee, then on to the full council for a final vote. Agendas and filings for those meetings are posted on the council’s public calendar at Milwaukee Legistar, which is the spot to watch for Acez’s hearing date.
Because the council’s schedule runs into late July and includes a summer recess, full consideration of Acez’s applications is not expected until after that break. In the meantime, Milton says the space is available for private rentals and promotions.
