An afternoon shooting on the 600 block of Knight Court in southwest Charlotte left one person critically wounded Sunday, according to emergency crews at the scene.

Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Service Agency (MEDIC) crews responded around 3 p.m. and rushed the victim to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, WSOC reported. Authorities have not yet said what led up to the gunfire.

Investigators worked the scene Sunday afternoon while the public waited for answers. "Channel 9 has reached out to police for more information," WSOC noted, adding that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department had not issued a public update at the time of the report.
