A 46-year-old man was left stumbling through Allerton with multiple stab wounds Wednesday morning, and he could not tell investigators who attacked him. Police are searching for answers after the apparently sudden assault near two busy Bronx avenues.
According to News 12 Bronx, the attack happened around 11:20 a.m. near Burke and Cruger avenues. The victim was seen holding his wounds as he stumbled down Burke Avenue before collapsing, while FDNY firefighters nearby for a gas-leak response helped him until EMS arrived. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition, but police said he could not provide a description of the attacker, and no arrests had been announced.
Detectives closed the intersection for several hours while they searched for evidence and tried to determine what led to the stabbing. The lack of a usable suspect description leaves investigators relying heavily on witnesses, nearby surveillance footage and whatever evidence was recovered from the scene.
47th Precinct Reports Felony Assaults Down 10.5%
The stabbing came as felony assaults in the 47th Precinct were running below last year’s pace. The latest NYPD CompStat report, covering July 20 through July 26, lists 511 felony assaults year to date in 2026, compared with 571 during the same period in 2025 — a 10.5% decline.
