Chapel Hill is losing a headquarters, and SouthPark just scored another one. Armacell has shifted its Americas base of operations to Charlotte, signing a seven-year lease at Carnegie X and taking more than 4,500 square feet as it pulls key management into a single regional office. The move drops another corporate headquarters into SouthPark's already high-end office scene.
In a July 1 press release, Armacell said its new Americas headquarters will be at 5605 Carnegie Blvd., Suite 100, and included a statement from Executive Vice President John Ross Turner: "Relocating our AMERICAS headquarters to Charlotte is an important step in supporting the next phase of Armacell’s growth." As reported by Charlotte Business Journal, the company signed a seven-year lease and is leasing more than 4,500 square feet at Carnegie X. Armacell said the move improves travel connectivity and access to customers, according to Armacell.
Carnegie X and the SouthPark market
Carnegie X, at 5605 Carnegie Blvd., is a Class A office building in SouthPark that the property owner describes as part of a thriving business district, according to Spectrum Companies. The developer notes the building offers roughly 97,000 square feet of office space and sits two blocks from SouthPark Mall, which helps explain demand for move-in-ready suites. A LoopNet listing for Carnegie X shows an available 4,541-square-foot suite, consistent with the area Armacell is taking, per LoopNet.
What the move means for Charlotte
The relocation places Armacell's regional leadership closer to its North American manufacturing footprint and customers in the Southeast, a point raised in local coverage. As reported by Charlotte Business Journal, the company operates multiple North American plants. Neither Armacell nor the building owner has disclosed whether the move will create new local jobs or change headcount in the region.
