Austin police were at the scene of a SWAT callout Thursday afternoon near Monarch Drive, with a public information officer headed in and a media briefing being planned. The department’s first alert did not disclose what prompted the response or whether anyone had been injured, arrested or detained.
In an afternoon update, the Austin Police Department said officers were near the 2400 block of Monarch Drive and that PIO9 was en route. The department said the briefing was expected at approximately 3 p.m. nearby, though the exact location remained undecided.
