According to WRAL, the first call came about 11:30 a.m., when a duplex on Raynor Street caught fire. Fire crews rescued one resident from the building, while a second person managed to get out on their own.
Earlier in the morning, around 10:20 a.m., firefighters had already been called to a home on Dunn Avenue after an outside fire spread to the structure. Crews knocked down that blaze quickly, but two residents were displaced as a result, according to WRAL.

Both incidents were handled by Durham’s fire department, which the city notes has more than 400 trained personnel operating out of 19 stations.
