What started as a packed early Sunday morning outside a northeast Austin strip club ended with two people dead and a massive crime scene under the glare of patrol lights.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the 9700 block of Reservoir Court, outside Bare Cabaret, where they found a man in his 20s and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman later died at a hospital. One person was detained, and deputies reported encountering a crowd of more than 400 people in the parking lot as investigators worked the scene.
Investigation underway
According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 9700 block of Reservoir Court and discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One died at the scene and the other at a hospital. Officials said one person was detained but that no arrests had been made as detectives continued processing evidence and sorting through witness accounts, KXAN reported.
Club has a history of police calls
The business at the center of the latest scene, Bare Cabaret at 9705 Reservoir Court, is no stranger to law enforcement. FOX 7 Austin documented a 2021 drive-by shooting there that left a man critically injured and later dead, and in 2023 reported on a separate shooting that led police to ask the public for tips. The club lists the Reservoir Court address on Bare Cabaret, and that history can complicate crowd control and evidence collection when large groups gather.
Officials ask witnesses to come forward
Investigators are asking anyone who was at the club or in the parking lot, especially anyone with video, to contact law enforcement while detectives continue collecting evidence and conducting interviews. The sheriff's office said the parking lot was still being processed and that the scene could remain active for several hours, according to KXAN. The victims' names have not been released as the investigation continues.
What happens next
Travis County homicide detectives and crime-scene specialists will keep working the scene and coordinate with the Travis County medical examiner, while prosecutors review the evidence before any charges are filed.
