The Original Pittsburgh Winery, a Strip District tasting room and intimate live music spot, will shut its doors on Aug. 15, 2026, its owner confirmed this week. The closure will cap a 14-year run for the independently operated winery and its underground Cellar performance space.
According to TribLIVE, owner Tim Gaber announced on social media that the business will officially close on Aug. 15. In the post, he highlighted a final night of music on Aug. 14, with Soulful Femme slated for 5 p.m. and Sah6bagin with Org Drl at 8 p.m. TribLIVE reports that the venue plans to load up that final week with a slate of farewell shows.
Strip District Staple With an Underground Beat
The winery's event calendar shows a packed summer schedule and describes the subterranean Cellar as a regular home base for singer-songwriters, tribute acts and local bands. According to the winery's website, the venue operates at 2809 Penn Avenue and sells tickets through Etix and various promoter pages.
From Grapes to Gigs, All Under One Roof
TribLIVE notes that the business first opened in 2012 at 2815 Penn Avenue, then shifted into its current address following a 2023 renovation. The reporting adds that the operation brings in grapes from California and Chile, runs a room of roughly 300 people and leans into DIY touches, including bleachers salvaged from Gaber's high school and a bar fashioned from old church doors.
Another Hit As the Strip Keeps Changing
The timing lands as other long-running hospitality spots in the Strip are dealing with their own crossroads, as redevelopment and relocations reshuffle the neighborhood. In mid-July, Helltown Brewing's Penn Avenue taproom was reported to be closing on Aug. 30 as part of a redevelopment plan, underscoring the mounting pressure on independent businesses in the area.
Last Shows, Tickets and Where To Stay Updated
Tickets for the Aug. 14 send-off shows and the rest of the August schedule are still listed on the winery's events page and on regional promoter sites. For the latest details on final-week programming and any post-closure plans, keep an eye on the winery's calendar, the venue's promoter pages, and local listings such as Drusky Entertainment.
