A quiet Simi Valley neighborhood was jolted Tuesday afternoon when officers discovered a body lying in the middle of the street near the 2500 block of Dusan Street, triggering a large police response that stretched into the evening.
At the center of the scene: a pickup truck with heavy front-end damage and a Simi Valley Police Department motorcycle left mangled at the curb, a helmet nearby. A SWAT BearCat was stopped in front of the truck, and the vehicle’s windshield appeared to show what looked like bullet holes, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
Simi Valley Police Department officials asked the public to steer clear of the area while detectives processed the scene and collected evidence. The department has not released the victim’s identity or said whether any arrests have been made, describing the response in early reports as a large-scale investigation.
