Months of simmering harassment at a Washington Avenue tattoo shop boiled over on Tuesday when a man allegedly hurled a brick through the front door of Prison Break Tattoos, shattering glass and narrowly missing co-owner Dillon Finberg. The entrance is now covered in plywood while staff comb through surveillance footage and line up repairs.
According to FOX 26 Houston, co-owners Dillon and Jen Finberg told reporters they believe the same man, who they and nearby businesses think may be unhoused, has been targeting the shop for months. They described a string of alleged incidents that include vandalism, damage to an outdoor bench, indecent exposure near the storefront and personal belongings left outside. “We’re not trying to make anyone’s life harder,” the owners said.
Surveillance Footage And A Boarded Entrance
The owners say surveillance cameras captured the confrontation and the moment the brick slammed through the glass door. In the aftermath, staff quickly boarded up the entrance with plywood. Prison Break Tattoos lists its Washington Avenue storefront on its Prison Break Tattoos page, and the business has temporarily closed parts of the lobby while it handles repairs and rethinks safety measures.
Police Investigating, Owners Urge Neighbors To Report
The Finbergs told FOX 26 Houston they want the man to get services, not just punishment, and are urging other Washington Avenue businesses to speak up if they have dealt with similar run-ins. Houston police confirmed to the station that they are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact HPD.
