A 69-year-old Bronx man was punched in the face, pushed to the ground, and had his cellphone taken during a daytime confrontation inside a commercial establishment, police say. Nearly a month later, NYPD Crime Stoppers is asking the public to help identify the person who allegedly attacked him.
NYPD Says Daylight Dispute Escalated Into Assault
According to a July 30 appeal from NYPD Crime Stoppers, the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. Police say an unidentified individual approached the man, engaged him in a verbal dispute, punched him in the face, pushed him to the ground, took his cellphone, and threw it down, damaging it.
The bulletin does not say what sparked the dispute, whether the victim required medical treatment, or whether anyone has been arrested. It also does not identify the business or provide a suspect name.
Anonymous Tips Can Be Sent To Crime Stoppers
Anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about the confrontation can call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit information through NYPD Crime Stoppers. The program says tips may be submitted anonymously, and tipsters do not have to provide their names or appear in court.
The police appeal also directs people with information to contact @NYPDTips. The suspect remains unidentified as detectives seek leads in the broad-daylight attack.
