A 12-year-old boy was killed Saturday in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx after a shooting that also wounded two men, police said. A stretch of Walton Avenue was quickly sealed off as detectives combed the block for clues, while stunned neighbors watched from behind the tape. As of the initial reports, no arrests had been announced, and investigators were still trying to figure out who opened fire and whether the child was the intended target.
According to WABC, the gunfire erupted just before 5 p.m. Saturday on Walton Avenue in Mount Eden. The station reports the 12-year-old was struck in the shoulder and rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he later died. Two other males were also taken to hospitals, though their ages and conditions were not immediately known.
Shooting Location And Victim Details
The New York Post places the shooting near Elliot Place and the Grand Concourse and puts the time at about 5:30 p.m. The paper reports that a 25-year-old man was struck in the buttocks and a 34-year-old man was hit in the foot. Both were taken by private means to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in stable condition, according to the outlet, and the child was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police told WABC that it was not immediately clear who fired the shots or whether the child was the intended target, and no arrests had been made in the hours after the shooting.
