More than five weeks after an 18-year-old was stabbed while trying to intervene in a fight inside a Bronx building, police are asking the public for help identifying the person they say attacked him. The victim was stabbed once in the lower back during the June 22 incident.
According to a July 30 post from NYPD Crime Stoppers, the victim saw a group of people involved in a physical altercation at about 3:30 p.m. inside 700 Morris Avenue. When he attempted to intervene, an unidentified individual stabbed him and fled on foot.
Police Are Seeking Information About The Attack
The NYPD described the case as an assault investigation and said the unidentified person ran off to parts unknown. The department has not announced an arrest in connection with the stabbing.
The incident occurred within the 40th Precinct, which covers the Bronx neighborhoods of Port Morris, Mott Haven and Melrose, according to the NYPD.

NYPD Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,500 for anonymous information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a violent felon, the department says on its Crime Stoppers page. Tips can be submitted by calling 800-577-TIPS or through the program's online form.
Anyone who witnessed the fight, saw the suspect leave or has information about the stabbing is being urged to contact investigators. Police are asking tipsters to provide whatever details they have, even if they are unsure whether the information will prove useful.
