Four New York residents are facing a raft of charges after authorities say a crew of armed robbers targeted two River Road spas in Edgewater in a quick pre-dawn spree last fall. Prosecutors identified the defendants as John E. Cesse Rosario, 24; Fraylan M. De La Rosa Perez, 26; Brayan Perez Abreu, 23; and Esther Rosado, 24. Investigators say the group moved in on patrons before sunrise, taking phones, a watch and other personal property at gunpoint.
What Prosecutors Say Happened
According to Daily Voice, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and Edgewater Police said the first hit came around 3 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2025, when a masked gunman confronted victims and demanded an Apple iPhone and Apple Watch. Less than two weeks later, at about 2:25 a.m. on Oct. 5, 2025, detectives say a different River Road spa was robbed at gunpoint and victims again lost their cell phones and other belongings.
How Investigators Built the Case
Prosecutors say a Bergen County grand jury returned a 13-count indictment on April 7 that charges Rosario, De La Rosa Perez and Perez Abreu with first-degree armed robbery and related offenses. Rosario, De La Rosa Perez and Rosado face additional counts tied to the Oct. 5 incident, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office press materials. Investigators say a white Toyota Camry was linked to the Sept. 25 scene and a silver Volkswagen Jetta to the Oct. 5 scene, and that those vehicles helped connect the suspects to both robberies.
Arrests, Extraditions and Who Is Where Now
Rosario was first charged and arrested in October 2025 in the Bronx with help from the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the NYPD, according to the reporting. Detectives later identified De La Rosa Perez and Perez Abreu as additional suspects and extradited them from New York to Bergen County. Rosado was arrested in Maryland on June 4 and brought to Bergen County on June 17, where she remains jailed pending further court action, according to Daily Voice.
The Charges On The Table
Per the county’s public materials, the defendants face a mix of counts that include first-degree armed robbery, second-degree conspiracy and weapons offenses. Prosecutors note those are among the most serious charges under New Jersey law. All four are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court, and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has declined to spell out specific bail rulings beyond saying that some defendants remain jailed pending further proceedings.
River Road Under The Microscope
The River Road corridor has been the focus of several high-profile investigations in recent years, and prosecutors say this latest probe leaned on a multiagency team of county, local and federal partners. Shore News Network and other regional outlets have previously covered related armed-robbery investigations in Edgewater, highlighting how closely law enforcement is watching the late-night businesses and activity along River Road.
Authorities said anyone with information about these cases is urged to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office tips line or the Edgewater Police Department.
