A Sunday night turned deadly inside a Claremont apartment building, where police say a 31-year-old woman was fatally stabbed and a 27-year-old Bronx woman is now facing murder charges.
According to the NYPD, officers responded around 8:22 p.m. to 1441 Teller Ave, where they found the victim inside the building with a stab wound to the chest and a cut to the neck. She was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police have not yet released her name.
The alleged attacker, identified by police as Lexus Bullock, 27, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
The arrest and initial details of the case were first reported by News 12 Bronx.
Where It Happened
Police say the killing unfolded inside 1441 Teller Ave, a low-rise multiunit residential building in the Mount Eden and Claremont area. Property records list the address as a small apartment building on a residential block within the NYPD's 44th Precinct, which covers Mount Eden and nearby Claremont, according to the Bronx Times.
Charges And Next Steps
Bullock is in custody and faces charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, as reported by News 12 Bronx. After an arrest like this, defendants are typically brought before Bronx Criminal Court for arraignment, where a judge reads the charges and decides whether to set bail or hold the defendant without it, following the NYPD's outlined criminal justice process. The Bronx District Attorney's office would then prosecute the case.
Police say detectives are still gathering evidence and the investigation remains active.
