Brooklyn sex trafficker Omari Scott was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years in federal prison after a jury found he orchestrated the killing of a rival pimp during a dispute over control of a woman he was trafficking. The case grew out of the Penn Track, an open-air commercial-sex market along Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York.

The sentence was announced Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York alongside the FBI’s New York field office and the NYPD. U.S. District Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto sentenced 45-year-old Scott, also known as “Prince” and “Sir Prince,” after his conviction for murder in the course of sex trafficking and sex trafficking Jane Doe 2; he had previously pleaded guilty to sex trafficking Jane Doe 1 and promoting prostitution, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Restitution for the victims will be determined later.
The Murder Began With A Dispute Over A Trafficking Victim
According to the Justice Department’s case summary, Scott learned in April 2023 that Jane Doe 2 planned to leave him and work for Cleveland Clay, another trafficker operating on the Penn Track. Scott found her on April 30, grabbed her by the hair, dragged her through the street and threw her into his car before confronting Clay the next morning.
Scott then recruited Michael Simmons and gave him a gun, prosecutors said. Simmons shot Clay multiple times in a White Castle parking lot on May 1, 2023, then returned to a nearby laundromat parking lot where Scott had been waiting; Clay died several hours later.
Prosecutors Described A System Of Violence And Control
A federal court filing described the government’s evidence that Scott used force, fraud and coercion to make at least two women solicit customers along the Penn Track and elsewhere, collected their earnings and threatened violence when they resisted. The filing said the women became financially dependent on Scott for necessities including food, clothing and shelter for themselves and their young children, according to court records.
A Landmark Federal Sex-Trafficking Murder Conviction
Scott’s June 2025 verdict was notable beyond Brooklyn: federal prosecutors said he was believed to be the first defendant in the nation convicted after a trial on a sex-trafficking murder charge. The 2025 conviction announcement said the jury found Scott responsible for orchestrating Clay’s killing after a fight over control of Jane Doe 2.
Co-Defendant Still Awaits Sentencing
Simmons pleaded guilty in January 2025 to murder in the course of sex trafficking and sex trafficking Jane Doe 2, and he remains awaiting sentencing, according to the Eastern District of New York. Scott’s 50-year sentence closes his portion of the case, but the court has not yet set the amount of restitution owed to the victims.
Scott’s Case Is Part Of A Wider Penn Track Crackdown
The sentence arrives amid other federal prosecutions tied to the same East New York corridor. Hoodline previously reported on the 2025 conviction of Joel David Forney, who was found guilty of trafficking two women at the Penn Track and coercing a minor.
