Budget season in the District comes to a head Tuesday, when the D.C. Council meets at 11 a.m. for what it is calling the season’s final budget votes. Lawmakers will gather in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, and the public can follow along in person or via several livestream options.
How to Watch Tuesday's Meeting
The Council has posted viewing instructions on its website, including a Zoom webinar (registration required), a live broadcast on the DCC Network (Channel 13 or 18), and streams via the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment as well as the Council’s Facebook and YouTube channels, according to D.C. Council. The notice also warns that the Zoom webinar will be locked near the start of the meeting once a quorum is determined, and that a video recording will be uploaded to the Council’s site within 24 hours.
Agenda and What to Expect
The meeting was flagged in a July 6 post on the Council’s Facebook page, which notes that the agenda includes the season’s final budget votes; see the announcement on Facebook. The full agenda and supporting materials are posted on the Council’s calendar (LIMS) for review at D.C. Council, where residents can see the specific items slated for final action.
These final votes typically wrap up the Council’s budget work for the season and will determine funding levels for city services that affect schools, housing, public safety and other neighborhood programs. Residents who want to track live roll-call outcomes should plan to join early or watch the Council’s posted video after the meeting concludes.
