Late Thursday night in Point Breeze, a burst of gunfire turned a South Philly block into an active crime scene, leaving a 33-year-old man shot and a nearby home and parked cars riddled with bullets, police said.
Officers were first called around 9:47 p.m. for a report of a person with a gun on the 1700 block of South 23rd Street. When they arrived, they found clear evidence that someone had opened fire: the exterior of a house was hit several times, a side window was shattered, and two parked cars had been struck.
Not far away, on the 2400 block of Watkins Street, police found the 33-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm. He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition as detectives began piecing together what happened and why.
What Police Say
According to NBC10 Philadelphia, the gunfire on the 1700 block of South 23rd Street damaged the front of a home, shattered a side window, and hit two parked vehicles. Officers then located the 33-year-old man on Watkins Street and rushed him to Presbyterian Hospital.
Investigators have not yet identified a motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been announced. Police have not released details on any possible suspect or suspects.
