Two Western Washington lottery players are set to split a $2.7 million Hit 5 prize after buying the winning tickets at the same Burien market, turning an ordinary stop for groceries or a lottery slip into one very expensive checkout line. The tickets matched all five white balls in Tuesday’s drawing, with each winner taking home about $1.35 million.
The winning tickets were sold at Buena Market at 13621 Southwest Ambaum Boulevard in Burien, according to The News Tribune. The retailer is also getting a payout: $13,525 for each winning ticket, or $27,050 total.
The Numbers And The Next Hit 5 Drawing
Washington’s Lottery lists the winning combination as 4, 16, 36, 40 and 41. Official Hit 5 materials say a play costs $1, players choose five numbers from 1 through 42, and the odds of matching all five numbers are about 1 in 851,000.
Hit 5 drawings take place daily at 8 p.m., while ticket sales for that day’s drawing end at 7:45 p.m. Players can purchase tickets for up to 25 consecutive drawings, meaning Wednesday night’s drawing will offer another chance at a much smaller — and considerably less life-changing — outcome.
For Tacoma-area players, Buena Market is about a 30-minute drive away, while the trip from Olympia takes roughly an hour, The News Tribune notes. The two winners now have a very good reason to remember exactly which neighborhood market sold their tickets.
