Cafe Raymond is taking its all-day breakfast-and-lunch operation out of the Strip District and into the South Hills, with a second Pittsburgh-area location planned across from Brentwood Towne Square. The move puts a familiar brunch stop closer to diners in Baldwin, Whitehall and Carrick.
Ownership announced the Brentwood-area site Wednesday, saying it selected the location to serve those established surrounding communities, according to Pittsburgh Business Times. The report did not identify an opening date or street address, so for now the big news is the neighborhood target rather than a countdown to opening day.
Brentwood Gives Cafe Raymond A South Hills Foothold
Cafe Raymond’s original restaurant remains at 2009 Penn Ave. in the Strip District, where the business serves breakfast, brunch and lunch daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the Cafe Raymond website. The restaurant describes itself as a Pittsburgh neighborhood kitchen established in 2008, with bread, dressings and sauces made in-house and vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options available every day.
That Strip District location has long been part of Pittsburgh’s breakfast conversation; Hoodline previously spotlighted the brunch favorite among the city’s notable breakfast and brunch stops. The Brentwood expansion suggests Cafe Raymond is betting that its casual daytime format can travel beyond the weekend-heavy orbit of the Strip.
For now, Cafe Raymond’s website still lists only its Strip District home and does not post details for the Brentwood location. Opening timing, hours and any location-specific menu changes remain to be announced, but the expansion gives South Hills diners a new reason to keep an eye on the breakfast map.
