Downtown Sacramento is getting a slice of Florence on L Street, courtesy of Fiore Del Vino, a Florentine-style wine window run by three women operators in the historic Senator building. The walk-up spot will pair a street-facing service window with a roomy patio the owners say will seat about 55 people, serving European wines and small plates geared toward midday breaks and after-work happy hours a stone's throw from the Capitol.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, Fiore Del Vino is set to take space at 1121 L Street inside The Senator, with the partners aiming for a mid-September opening. The Business Journal reports the wine window will highlight European bottles alongside small plates and confirms the patio is expected to accommodate roughly 55 guests. The story first appeared on July 10, 2026.

A Florentine Tradition, Reimagined

The wine-window format traces back to Florence's centuries-old buchette del vino, and the owners say Fiore Del Vino is a modern spin on that neighborhood-minded style of service. What Now Sacramento reports the concept will blend European labels with local selections, plus small plates for guests who want to linger on the patio instead of just grabbing a quick pour and walking off.

The format's recent revival during the pandemic has turned the walk-up window into a familiar, low-contact way to sell wine, and Fiore Del Vino looks set to lean into that easygoing, street-facing vibe.

The Team And The Plan

Behind Fiore Del Vino are partners Suzanne Ricci, Melea Martinez and Sheena Takher, who bring a mix of restaurant operations, community connections and event-marketing experience to the project. Martinez told What Now Sacramento, "It's gonna be a great concept for sure," describing a casual, approachable spot for downtown regulars.

The trio plans weekday hours - roughly 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday - aimed at state workers and office crowds who want a glass of wine and a snack without committing to a full sit-down restaurant experience.

Where It Will Fit Downtown

The Senator building sits directly across from the State Capitol, and its official site already teases a portico wine window, signaling there is interest in street-facing service at 1121 L Street. The Senator currently lists a "NEW WHIRED Wine Window" at the lobby portico, while reporting in the Sacramento Business Journal identifies Fiore Del Vino as an incoming addition to the building.

With its sizable patio, the new wine window looks clearly aimed at midday office breaks and after-work happy hours in the shadow of the Capitol. The owners hope to open by mid-September and say they will lock in menus and exact hours as they wrap up the build-out. For now, Fiore Del Vino is set to add another outdoor-forward drinking option just steps from the Capitol and to deepen downtown Sacramento's growing roster of quick-service wine and snack spots.
