A pre-dawn collision on a neighborhood stretch of Dorsett Avenue in east Houston turned deadly early Sunday when a car slammed into a parked 18-wheeler, veered into a grassy area and went up in flames, killing the driver at the scene.
Houston police said the car was heading north on Dorsett near Pillot Street at about 3:32 a.m. when it hit the parked big rig, according to Click2Houston. The impact pushed the vehicle off the roadway into a grassy area along a fence, where it caught fire. Officers said the driver, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead from injuries at about 3:41 a.m.
