A shooting at the Napier-Sudekum Homes that left a 26-year-old man badly wounded is now being described by police as a hired hit, with both the admitted gunman and the man who allegedly put up the money now behind bars. The victim, who took multiple gunshots to both legs and a graze wound to the head, is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Detectives say the arrests followed interviews and follow-up work that turned up weapons, cash and drugs tied to the case.

Arrests and alleged murder-for-hire deal

Metro detectives on Thursday arrested 52-year-old Nakia Bohanon on Lafayette Street. Bohanon admitted to shooting the 26-year-old victim and told investigators he had been hired by 26-year-old Kybreun Scott, according to WSMV. He reportedly said the agreed payment for the job was $2,850 and that he had already received $350 after the shooting. Bohanon was booked on an attempted criminal homicide charge and, at the time of his arrest, had been free on a $2,500 bond from a May burglary case.

Investigators say that during follow-up work in the case, officers seized an AK-style pistol, about 110 grams of cocaine and $2,432 from Scott’s vehicle. Police report that Scott was taken into custody after he allegedly fled an attempted traffic stop connected to the investigation.

Booking records and current status

Booking records show Kybreun Scott was taken into custody on July 1 and appears in the county jail roster listed in the Davidson County Sheriff's Office's recent bookings. He remains jailed while detectives continue to gather evidence and coordinate with prosecutors on how the case will proceed.

Charges and Tennessee law

Bohanon is charged with attempted criminal homicide, and police say Scott faces a conspiracy count along with drug and weapons charges. Those alleged offenses and the arrest details were reported by WSMV. Under Tennessee law, criminal attempt and conspiracy are defined in T.C.A. § 39-12-101 and § 39-12-103, which make substantial steps toward a violent offense and agreements to commit crimes prosecutable as felonies, per the Tennessee Code. Prosecutors will determine the formal list of charges and next steps as the investigation continues and any potential grand jury review moves forward.

Napier neighbors want more than crime tape

Residents around Napier-Sudekum have been calling for steadier, relationship-based policing after repeated violent incidents in the area, according to local reporting. Neighbors say they want officers who patrol consistently and engage with the community instead of only appearing after gunfire, a sentiment captured in demand cops they actually know. Detectives say the investigation into this shooting remains active and are asking anyone with information to contact Metro Nashville Police.
