What started as a parking lot argument at a Claymont apartment complex ended with a 24-year-old in handcuffs and detectives hauling away handguns, according to New Castle County police.
Officers were called to the Whitney Gardens apartments in the 700 block of Naamans Road on July 18 for a reported parking dispute that had escalated into threats involving a knife and a claimed firearm. Police say they detained the suspect without incident, then obtained and executed a search warrant at his residence as the investigation moved forward.
According to NBC10 Philadelphia, officers identified the suspect as 24-year-old Michael Bailey of Claymont and found him armed with a knife at the scene. Police allege Bailey told people he had a gun tucked in his waistband and threatened to shoot them.
Detectives later searched his residence and recovered two 9mm handguns, multiple ammunition magazines and additional rounds, according to the outlet. Bailey was charged with aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon and related offenses.
