Cleveland’s disco-loving Good Night John Boy has added a national bragging right to its riverfront comeback: USA TODAY has named the bar to its 2026 best-bars list. The recognition spotlights the Delray Beach outpost, but the honor lands locally too—the concept was born in Cleveland and has grown into a six-location operation.
According to Cleveland.com, USA TODAY highlighted the Delray Beach location in naming Good Night John Boy among its Best Bars of the Year for 2026. The list also includes three other Ohio picks: Sully’s Speakeasy in Canal Fulton, Northside Yacht Club in Cincinnati and Land-Grant Brewing Co. in Columbus.
Cleveland Roots, Nationwide Disco Expansion
Good Night John Boy opened in Cleveland’s Flats in 2021 before the 1970s-themed dance-bar concept spread to Columbus, Chicago, St. Petersburg, San Diego and Delray Beach, according to the bar’s official locations page. Its formula is less hushed cocktail laboratory and more Studio 54-meets-your-grandparents’ basement, with retro décor, cold beer, dancing and a distinctly unshy commitment to the disco ball.
The Cleveland outpost also recently shifted within the Flats, reopening in a larger riverfront space with expanded food and drink options. Cleveland Magazine described the new venue as having a glowing LED dance floor, four bars, waterfront service and an expanded patio, while Forward Hospitality COO Bobby Rutter called the upgrade a major change from the bar’s earlier spaces.
The Flats Move Gives The Brand A Fresh Local Stage
That relocation was part of a broader nightlife reshuffle in the Flats East Bank. Hoodline previously reported that Good Night John Boy’s former home was being converted into Pour Lolas, a rock-and-roll shots bar, as the hospitality group repositioned two concepts ahead of the summer season.
For Cleveland, the USA TODAY nod arrives as the brand continues expanding from the city where it started. The list recognition may be attached to a Florida location, but it still gives the Flats another reason to keep the dance floor glowing—and local bragging rights a fresh excuse to order one more round.
