As reported by Shore News Network, officers responded Sunday to calls of shots fired in the 2100 block of Eakin Road, where a victim told investigators that Allen Brumfield, 50, fired several rounds at them as they drove away. Police located Brumfield at the scene and arrested him without incident, and he was charged with domestic violence, the outlet says.
Police: No injuries, investigation ongoing
The Columbus Division of Police says officers arrested Brumfield without incident and that no injuries were reported at the scene. Detectives have the case open as they continue to interview witnesses and review any available evidence, according to the city's police statements in Columbus Division of Police press releases.
Context around domestic-related violence
The arrest comes amid a stretch of domestic-related incidents across Columbus this spring, with local reporting showing other recent cases, including a May shooting on La Vista Drive that left a man hospitalized and an arrest made. WHIO covered the May case, and other city shootings tied to domestic disputes have also been reported.
What happens next
Brumfield faces a domestic-violence charge, prosecutors and investigators will determine whether additional charges are warranted as the probe continues. As with all suspects, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, per the police information reported by Shore News Network.
