Concord just landed a new refuge for people who like their evenings slow, smoky and slightly competitive. Iron Oak Cigar Lounge has opened its doors, pairing a walk-in humidor and bourbon-forward bar with an indoor golf simulator. The 3,200-square-foot lounge is built to seat about 90 guests inside, with additional patio seating for those who want a little more fresh air with their cigar. Owner Bjorn Mohaugen describes the concept as part humidor, part classroom and part social club, with plans for tastings and “Cigar 101” nights aimed at newcomers and seasoned smokers alike.
What To Expect Inside
According to Axios Charlotte, Iron Oak’s walk-in humidor stocks more than 400 cigars, the bar menu lists around 11 signature cocktails, and nonmembers can get in with a $5 day pass. Axios Charlotte also reports that memberships range from $25 to $399 and that the beverage program leans heavily on bourbon and whiskey pours. The outlet credits photos of the space to Alexis Clinton and places Iron Oak just off Interstate 85 at 1048 Copperfield Blvd NE #101.
Owner Vision And Opening Timeline
During the buildout, Mohaugen told Business Debut that the design focuses on lounge seating, high-top tables and a dedicated back room for the golf simulator so the venue can handle casual hangouts as well as private events. Business Debut noted that the team originally targeted a mid-May soft opening followed by a late-May or early-June grand opening before fully opening to the public. Job listings on Indeed show the lounge hiring cocktail servers and promising training on premium cigars and spirits for new staff.
Events And Tastings
Iron Oak is already on the radar for cigar-brand roadshows and tasting events. Cigar-maker schedules list appearances at the Concord lounge this month, including BLTC/BLK WKS stops. The Oveja Negra events calendar includes a July visit to Iron Oak in Concord, and the Rocky Patel events page features the lounge as a host site for other brand activations. Those bookings line up neatly with Iron Oak’s plan to offer “Cigar 101” sessions and guided tastings for everyone from first-timers to collectors.
How It Fits Locally
Iron Oak steps into a small but growing cigar-bar scene in the Charlotte metro. Long-established Tailored Smoke at Concord Mills bills itself as the area’s go-to cigar and whiskey bar, according to Explore Cabarrus. Iron Oak is betting that its mix of a retail humidor, a full bar and built-in entertainment such as the golf simulator will set it apart from more compact smoke shops. That playbook mirrors regional coverage of similar openings and members-only concepts, which notes that operators are leaning on events and elevated cocktail programs to keep indoor smoking venues commercially viable.
Iron Oak is currently open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and customers can buy cigars to go without signing up for a membership, Axios Charlotte reports. The lounge sits at 1048 Copperfield Blvd NE #101, just off Interstate 85 in Concord. Expect a steady rotation of tastings and pop-up events, with more details available on the lounge’s social channels and the industry calendars mentioned above.
