Drivers making the long haul between Dallas and Houston just picked up a new spot to tackle a seafood craving. Captain D’s opened its latest restaurant in Corsicana on Monday, planting a freestanding, 1,950-square-foot outpost at 3920 W. State Highway 31. The 44-seat restaurant brings the chain’s coastal-inspired look to Navarro County, with franchisee Joseph Omobogie at the helm and the usual lineup of fried and grilled seafood front and center.
This Corsicana restaurant is Captain D’s first location between the Dallas and Houston metro areas and the brand’s 19th in Texas, according to the Houston Chronicle. The opening is aimed at strengthening the chain’s presence along one of the state’s busiest travel corridors.
Menu and design
The Corsicana Captain D’s leans on the brand’s core menu: wild-caught, batter-dipped Alaskan fish, butterfly shrimp, hand-breaded chicken tenders, Nashville hot fish and a slate of grilled options, with Southern-style sides rounding out the plates, according to PR Newswire. The 1,950-square-foot layout and 44 seats are wrapped in Captain D’s updated coastal-inspired design, giving the highway stop a breezy, shore-adjacent vibe even if the nearest beach is hours away.
Local ownership and expansion
Multi-unit franchisee Joseph Omobogie, who also owns Golden Chick, Thai Express, Marco’s Pizza and Tropical Smoothie Cafe, will run the Corsicana restaurant. “Joseph is a highly accomplished, growth-minded operator who understands how to scale successful restaurant concepts,” Brad Reed, Captain D’s chief development officer, said in a statement, according to PR Newswire.
Road-trip ready
The freestanding site includes a drive-thru and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., setting it up as an easy grab-and-go stop for travelers running the Dallas-Houston route, What Now Dallas reports. Call-ahead orders for the Corsicana location can be placed at 352-415-1511.
