York County investigators say a Fort Mill man was taken into custody today after they uncovered files tied to child sexual-abuse material on electronic devices. Authorities allege the 36-year-old faces multiple felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and remains in custody while prosecutors prepare formal charges. The case is the latest in a growing string of online child-exploitation probes in York County this year.
According to WCNC, the suspect has been identified as George Alexander Toulas, 36, of Fort Mill. WCNC reports that Toulas was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was taken into custody by the York County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, with investigators from the South Carolina Attorney General's Office and Homeland Security Investigations assisting in the probe. WCNC also reports the case began after a CyberTipline referral from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Under South Carolina law, second- and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor are felony offenses. Each count carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years, according to S.C.
