A routine welfare check at a Cypress home on Monday suddenly turned into a rescue operation when deputies found signs that someone had been held captive, and a person believed to have escaped was later found and rushed to a hospital. Investigators say they have identified a suspect who now faces an aggravated kidnapping charge while the case remains under active investigation. Authorities have not released the victim’s name or condition.
Deputies Say Welfare Call Revealed Signs Of Captivity
Harris County Precinct 4 deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of Darby Retreat Lane for a welfare check and discovered evidence that someone had been held against their will, according to Click2Houston. Investigators later found a person nearby who was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, the outlet reported. Precinct 4 officials have released only limited information so far while detectives continue to work the scene and sort through what happened.

Detectives with the Constable’s Special Victims Unit took over the follow up investigation, a team the office typically assigns to sensitive or felony level cases, according to Precinct 4. Suspect Already In Jail When Kidnapping Charge Filed
Investigators identified the suspect as Warren Brown and said he was already in the Harris County Jail on assault and continuous family violence warrants before the new allegation was added, Click2Houston reported. According to the constable’s office, Brown has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and is awaiting bond in the 178th District Court. Prosecutors and detectives have not yet released a charging affidavit while they continue building the case.
