A man who police say grabbed someone’s butt without permission inside a George Washington University building is now the subject of a public search. Detectives are asking for help identifying the person after releasing surveillance video showing him near the campus. The reported contact happened around 7 a.m. Saturday inside GW’s Science and Engineering Hall in the 800 block of 22nd Street NW, according to FOX 5 DC. Police described the person of interest as wearing a gray T-shirt, dark pants and dark shoes, and said he was seen riding a bicycle.
Police Release A Limited Description
Authorities have not publicly identified the person or announced an arrest in the case. Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about the alleged unwanted contact to come forward.
Tips Could Lead To A $1,000 Reward
The Metropolitan Police Department asks people with information to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411, according to the department’s public guidance on unsolved cases. MPD says those channels can be used to submit anonymous information.
FOX 5 DC reported that a reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Police have not released additional identifying information beyond the clothing description, bicycle and surveillance footage.
GW Police Department Is Supporting The Investigation
GW’s public safety office says the George Washington University Police Department patrols the Foggy Bottom campus and provides emergency and non-emergency services. The university also offers confidential, trauma-informed support through its Office of Advocacy and Support for students affected by sexual violence, according to GW’s safety office.
