A DART police officer was hospitalized last night after being hit in the leg by a stray bullet during a South Dallas shooting. The officer was reported to be in stable condition as investigators worked to determine who opened fire and why.
According to CBS News Texas, Dallas police responded at 7:58 p.m. to an assist-officer call in the 1400 block of South Trunk Avenue. Police said a preliminary investigation found that suspects were shooting in the area when the DART officer was struck. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the officer to a hospital.
The shooting happened in a transit-heavy stretch of South Dallas near DART’s Martin Luther King Jr. Station. DART’s official station map lists the station at 1412 South Trunk Avenue, though authorities have not said whether the shooting occurred on station property or affected train service.
Police Have Not Announced Any Arrests
No arrests had been made as of last night, and police said the case remained active with limited information available, CBS News Texas reported. Authorities have not publicly identified the officer or released details about the suspected shooters, a possible motive, or any additional injuries.
