
An early-morning burst of gunfire in Parkville left one person dead, Baltimore County police say. Officers rushed to the 8500 block of Chestnut Oak Road around 1 a.m. after getting calls about shots in the area, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to WMAR-2 News, responding officers found an unidentified person suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police say the circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Baltimore County police at 410-887-3700.
Parkville's recent shootings have residents on edge
Neighbors say this latest killing lands in the middle of a troubling run of gun violence in and around Parkville that has already put many residents on edge. Coverage of a shooting that injured two in the area helped spotlight what locals describe as a string of unsettling incidents in recent months.
Several of those scenes have rattled nearby blocks, even as officials have said they do not believe many of the incidents are connected. Detectives are treating each case independently while they work through the growing list of investigations.
Investigators seek video, witnesses
Baltimore County homicide detectives are leading the probe and have so far released few details about the victim or any possible suspect. As reported by WMAR-2 News, investigators are asking anyone with security-camera or dash-cam footage, or any other information, to call police at 410-887-3700 or submit anonymous tips through Metro Crime Stoppers.
Detectives say they will share more when they can and urge residents to hold off on speculation while they work to piece together what happened overnight on Chestnut Oak Road.
