A 24-year-old Jamestown man airlifted after a head-on crash on Interstate 94 near Evansville on Sunday has died from his injuries, according to public records. In all, two people were killed and another person suffered life-threatening injuries.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol's incident log, the westbound Ford Fusion involved in the crash was driven by Koleman John Lind, 24, of Jamestown. He was flown to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later listed as fatal. The report places the crash at about 3:57 p.m. Sunday at Interstate 94 milepost 80 in Erdahl Township, near Evansville in Grant County, and includes a case number along with a list of responding agencies.
Authorities say the driver of an eastbound Tesla Model Y, a 73-year-old man from Woodbury, died at the scene, and his 65-year-old passenger was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries, as reported by FOX 9. Local crews from Grant County, Ashby and Evansville, along with air and ground EMS units, responded to the crash. Officials have released limited details while the State Patrol continues its investigation.
A third vehicle, a 2025 Toyota Crown Signia driven by a 63-year-old woman from Mandan, struck the wreckage after the initial head-on impact. She was not injured, according to reporting from KFGO. The station reported that I-94 was completely closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene and rerouted traffic. No charges or citations have been announced.
Minnesota State Patrol records show the initial collision was between the westbound Ford Fusion and the eastbound Tesla, with the Toyota then striking both vehicles after the head-on crash.
