A pre-dawn collision on San Antonio's Far West Side turned deadly Wednesday, shutting down a stretch of Culebra Road for hours while investigators worked the scene. The two-vehicle wreck happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. near Stillwater Parkway, and crews closed Culebra between Stillwater Parkway and Gas Road as they documented the aftermath. Police say one of the cars lost control, slammed through a fence, then hit a wall, leaving the vehicle heavily mangled. Officials say the exact cause is still under investigation.
According to WOAI, both vehicles were headed west on Culebra when they crashed. One driver suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was treated by medics on site. Live footage from the station showed local evidence teams combing through debris, taking measurements and photographing the scene as traffic was diverted away from the area.
