Muskego police are asking for the public’s help to identify a person they say stole a debit card from a shopper at the Muskego Walmart and went on to rack up more than $1,100 in purchases at several nearby stores. Investigators say surveillance footage shows the suspect quietly pocketing the card and then driving off in a Jeep Wrangler shortly after the theft. Anyone with information is urged to contact the department as the investigation continues.
According to FOX6 Milwaukee, the Muskego Police Department said the victim "accidentally left their debit card in the card reader at Walmart" on July 3 at about 6:30 p.m. The card was later linked to unauthorized transactions totaling $1,177. Police told FOX6 Milwaukee that those purchases were reported at a Sephora and Kohl’s in Muskego, an Ulta Beauty in Greendale and the Ridge Cinema in New Berlin. FOX6 reports the information came from the Muskego Police Department.

Muskego police say store surveillance video shows the suspect taking the debit card at Walmart, concealing it with another card and leaving the store in a Jeep Wrangler at about 6:40 p.m. Investigators are circulating still images from that footage in hopes someone recognizes the person involved.

Officers are also asking anyone who may have recorded relevant cell phone video to hang on to the footage so it can be reviewed as part of the case.
