Storms Arrive After Lunch
Storms are expected to build over the mountains late Wednesday morning before moving across the plains during the afternoon. For Denver and the urban corridor, the best chance for rain is roughly 2 to 5 p.m., with storms potentially lingering into early evening. Brief heavy downpours and gusty outflow winds could accompany the strongest cells.
The National Weather Service Denver/Boulder office said strong storms could produce localized flash flooding, particularly near burn scars and along and east of the southern I-25 corridor, according to its latest forecast discussion. No watches, warnings or advisories were in effect early Wednesday, but water can rise quickly in low-lying areas and drainage channels.
Outdoor plans are safest during the morning, before storm chances increase. If thunder rolls in, move indoors, and drivers should be ready for sudden downpours, reduced visibility, and water-covered streets.
Heat Builds Into The Weekend
Wednesday night will turn mostly cloudy after storms, with a low near 64 degrees and lingering rain chances before 9 p.m. Thursday will be mostly sunny and hotter, reaching about 94 degrees, with another chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.
Conditions turn drier Friday, with sunshine and a high near 93, followed by 96 degrees Saturday. Sunday is the standout heat day, with sunny skies and a high near 102, while Monday should remain hot near 99 before Tuesday cools toward 92 with another chance of afternoon storms.
