A Denver man was arrested after deputies say he entered an unoccupied home near Roxborough during the Penley Fire response, then tried to get away on an e-bike. Investigators also say he used a car to block a gate and road, cutting off access for law enforcement and neighbors while obstructing an evacuation route.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Tony Hoang, 40, of Denver, in a Thursday update. The homeowner reportedly received several security-camera alerts, called 911, and deputies caught Hoang leaving the scene, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office post. The post said Hoang had left the residence on an e-bike.
The Alleged Obstruction Happened During An Active Fire Response
The alleged obstruction unfolded as firefighters and deputies were managing the Penley Fire west of Sedalia, which prompted a two-mile evacuation order around West Douglas Fire Station 132, according to CBS Colorado. The evacuation order was later scaled back as crews gained ground, and KKTV reported that the fire reached 100% containment Wednesday with all evacuation orders and warnings lifted. The circumstances made an allegedly blocked route especially significant because emergency crews needed access through the area.
Hoang Faces Multiple Charges Including Burglary
The sheriff's office said Hoang is facing multiple charges, including burglary, under case number 2026-00068978, according to its case update. The post did not provide a full charge list or court information, and no conviction has been established. The agency also reminded readers that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
