A 29-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot during an argument with a neighbor early yesterday on Detroit’s west side. Police arrested the neighbor, and the shooting remains under investigation.
Officers from the Detroit Police Department’s 10th Precinct were called at about 1 a.m. to a home in the Humphrey Street area near Dexter Avenue, according to The Detroit News. Investigators said the two neighbors were arguing when one produced a firearm and shot the other.
Officers took the wounded man to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The suspected shooter was arrested, while detectives continue working to determine what led to the confrontation.
Crime Stoppers of Michigan is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or knows more about it. The Detroit News reported that tips can be submitted at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
Recent West Side Shootings Add To Concern
The shooting follows several other violent incidents on Detroit’s west side this month. Five people were shot, including the suspected gunman, outside a funeral at Greater Love Tabernacle Church on July 17, according to CBS News Detroit.
Two days later, a man was fatally shot after a fight on Tuller Street, while another person was detained, ClickOnDetroit reported. Thursday’s shooting was nonfatal, but it again left police investigating gunfire that began with a confrontation between people in the same neighborhood.
