A quiet Sunday morning inside a downtown D.C. parking garage turned into a gunpoint ambush on the 1100 block of 18th Street NW, when a woman says two armed suspects jumped her and a friend, robbing them of bags and jewelry. One small break in the chaos: she later recovered her own bag after a suspect dropped it while running away.
According to FOX 5 DC, the suspects leapt out from behind a parked car and demanded the victims’ belongings. Detectives say the pair stole a chain, a watch and a crossbody bag from one woman, and took the other woman’s phone, keys, bank cards and cash. Surveillance video obtained by investigators captured the moments immediately after the holdup and shows the pair sprinting out of the garage.
"I'm very devastated. I'm traumatized. I'm having trouble sleeping, eating, so trying to get through it day by day," the woman said. She asked to remain anonymous and told FOX 5 DC the whole thing felt "surreal" because it unfolded so quickly.
Suspect Descriptions and Reward
Police describe the first suspect as wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and a mask, and say he was running while trying to hold up tight jeans. The second suspect was dressed in all black, had a distinctive, wobbling running style, and was seen carrying a black Telfar crossbody bag that had been taken during the mugging.
