Absentee ballots are already in play for Minnesota’s Aug. 11, 2026 primary, giving Maple Grove voters weeks to get their choices in before the rush of Primary Day. The City of Maple Grove announced on June 30 that residents can either request a ballot by mail or head out for in-person early voting.
Early Voting Is Open Across Minnesota
According to the Minnesota Secretary of State, early voting for the Aug. 11 primary opened Friday, June 26, and runs through Aug. 10 for both absentee ballots and in-person options. The office also outlines a new early-voting process that lets voters feed their completed ballots directly into tabulators starting July 24.
Maple Grove Voters: Where To Go And Who To Call
For Maple Grove residents who like having a home base, the city’s election headquarters is at the Maple Grove Government Center, 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway N. Staff there can walk you through drop-off locations, key deadlines and where your local polling place will be on Primary Day. The City of Maple Grove also shared the reminder in a Facebook update. For local election help, you can call the city election line at 763-494-6497.
How To Request A Ballot - And What Happens If You Aren't Registered
Voters who prefer to stay home can request an absentee ballot online through MNvotes or fill out a paper application through their county election office. The League of Women Voters Minnesota notes that if you are not yet registered, your absentee packet will include a voter registration application, along with instructions on what identification or vouching is required to complete the process.
Deadlines, Tracking And The New Early Tabulator
The city is reminding voters that mail-in absentee ballots must be received by Election Day in order to be counted, and that online tracking tools are available so you can confirm that your ballot made it in. Axios Twin Cities reports that the state’s early-voting tabulator window opens on July 24, and that if you change your mind and decide to vote in person, local officials can invalidate a previously mailed ballot so you can cast a new one at the polls.
For questions about registering, absentee status or where you stand in the process, Maple Grove residents can call the city election line at 763-494-6497 or reach out to Hennepin County Elections. The state also runs a voter help line at 1-877-600-8683 during business hours, and its online voter portal offers sample ballots, tracking tools and the absentee ballot application all in one place.
