According to an appeal posted by NYPD Crime Stoppers, two unidentified individuals discharged firearms in front of a building on East 174th Street at about 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The public appeal did not identify anyone who was injured or provide a motive for the gunfire.

Tipsters Can Get Up To $3,500, Police Say
The NYPD Crime Stoppers program says anonymous information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a violent felon may qualify for a reward of up to $3,500. Tips can be submitted by calling 800-577-TIPS, using the program's online system, or texting 274637 with the code TIP577, according to the NYPD.
Police have not released descriptions of the two individuals in the public appeal, and it remains unclear whether investigators believe the shooting was targeted or connected to another incident. Anyone with information, surveillance footage, or other evidence is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers rather than confront anyone who may be involved.
