A girl was pulled from the water at Cleveland's Edgewater Beach on Tuesday night and taken to a hospital after Metroparks officers began CPR, authorities said. Three other people who had been in the water made it out on their own as emergency crews rushed to the lakefront.
The Cleveland Division of Fire was called to the beach around 8:15 p.m., and Cleveland EMS transported the child to a hospital, according to FOX 8. Investigators said her condition was unknown as of the station's latest update.
Metroparks Officers Performed CPR After Pulling Girl From Water
Cleveland Metroparks police officers pulled the girl from the water and immediately began performing CPR, officials told the station. Fire crews also responded to the emergency call, while the other three people were able to reach shore without assistance, according to FOX 8.
Edgewater's posted beach rules say visitors should supervise children at all times, swim only in authorized areas and obey lifeguard instructions. The rules also prohibit swimming when red flags are posted because of weather or safety conditions, according to Cleveland Metroparks.

Cleveland Metroparks' current swimming-status page lists lifeguards at Edgewater Beach from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Aug. 9. The reported emergency call came at 8:15 p.m., though officials have not said whether the people involved were swimming inside the guarded area, according to the agency's Cleveland Metroparks.
Tuesday's rescue came just over two weeks after a separate Edgewater emergency in which a 13-year-old boy was reported missing in Lake Erie and later found dead. That earlier case involved a search by multiple agencies, according to Cleveland 19 News.
